The Congressional Hispanic Caucus has asked the NBC television network to disinvite 2016 presidential hopeful Donald Trump from hosting the sketch comedy show in November.

The group, which represents Latino members of Congress, asked the network to prevent Trump from hosting the November 7 airing of the show, arguing that the presidential hopeful's stance on the Hispanic community and immigration is racist.

"Mr. Trump's 'racist remarks' and his continued rhetoric demonizing Latinos and immigrants has created fear within these communities around the country, many of which are represented in Congress," reads the Monday statement from the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

"Racism isn't funny and Trump's degrading comments about the Latino community have no place on national television. It's alarming to see NBC ignore Trump's record of hateful speech, from calling Mexican Americans rapists and murderers to vowing to build a wall on our southern border," the statement adds.

Trump is set to host the popular comedy show this coming saturday. Although some in Congress have said that they are displeased with NBC's allowance of Trump's hosting gig, Minnesota's Sen. Al Franken said in a recent interview on CNN that he thinks Trump will be "entertaining" on the show.

"I think it will be an entertaining show. I watch the show whenever I have the chance," Franken said in a recent interview with the network. "I thought Hillary did great on it. I've known her 20 years; she's actually a really funny person, and is going to make a great president."
