Comedian Tracy Morgan Says God Spoke to Him During Coma
Actor and comedian Tracy Morgan has spoken out regarding his recovery from his nearly fatal car accident and subsequent coma, saying that while staying in the hospital following the incident, he spoke to God.
Morgan, a "Saturday Night Live" alumn and accomplished comedian, recently told Complex Magazine in an interview that following a car accident in 2014, he "went to the other side" and spoke with God, who told him his time wasn't done on earth.
"I went to the other side," Morgan told the magazine in a recent interview. "This is not something I'm making up. Do you know what God said to me? He said, 'Your room ain't ready. I still got something for you to do.'"
Morgan was traveling in a Sprinter bus following a stand-up comedy event in Delaware in June 2014 when their vehicle was hit by a tractor-trailer on the New Jersey turnpike.
The comedian suffered brain injuries as well as broken bones, and was reportedly in a coma for two weeks following the crash. His friend and fellow comedian, James McNair, was killed in the crash.
Morgan added in his recent Complex interview that when he was invited to host "Saturday Night Live" earlier this year following the incident, he saw the opportunity as "special."
"There was so much goodwill and I felt that energy, like, 'Yo, we happy you alive!' It wasn't like they were looking for laughter, no. 'We just happy you alive and you're here walking,' And that made it special for me," Morgan told the media outlet. "I just want to give it back through my sense of humor."
