'Code Black' season 2 spoilers: Willis helps young athlete injured in bus crash; transgender patient suffers from complication in episode 2
Ethan (Rob Lowe) will have a tough conversation with a young athlete injured in a bus crash, while another patient's hesitation to reveal that she's transgender will make her abdominal pain more difficult to diagnose in the upcoming episode of CBS' medical drama "Code Black" season 2.
Titled "Life and Limb," tonight's episode will explore two different patients with interesting medical cases. According to the official synopsis, a bus carrying an entire team of young soccer players crashes and everyone will be brought to the hospital. Ethan must help one of the promising athletes make a life-changing decision after he was seriously injured in the accident. Meanwhile, another patient hesitates to share the doctors that she's transgender. As a result, the doctors will find it difficult to diagnose her severe abdominal pain.
Guest stars for episode 2 include transgender actress Alexandra Grey as Beth, a patient suffering from extreme abdominal pain; Camryn Manheim as Alice, the traumatized wife of an injured truck driver; and Eric Roberts as Vince, Mario's opportunistic father.
During last Wednesday's premiere, viewers revisiting "Code Black" may have noticed some new faces and a few characters who are missing in action. One of the highlights of the episode is the first appearance of Lowe's Colonel Ethan Willis, who made his huge debut in the premiere's first moments as he and fellow doctor Mike (Tommy Dewey) rode a helicopter to respond to a shark attack in Malibu.
At some point in the episode, Mike fell out of the helicopter and plummeted 20 feet to the sand. Ethan immediately jumped to the ocean to help him. After reaching the hospital, Angus was understandably concerned about his brother's well-being. He strongly objected when Ethan decided to drill a hole into Mike's skull during the surgery. He later asserts himself and tells Angus: "I'm the best hope your brother has. Now step off."
The second season of "Code Black" airs every Wednesday night at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
