CNN Host Says Conservative Atheists Are 'Better Than Liberal Atheists Like Bill Maher

A CNN host recently argued that being a conservative atheist is "better" than being a liberal atheist because she believes the conservative political party is more "respectful" of atheism than those who are more left leaning.
S.E. Cupp, who hosts CNN's "Crossfire," made her comments in a recent online video uploaded to the "Crossfire" website, saying in the video that she believes the conservative party is more "respectful" of atheism than those who are more politically liberal leaning.
"I don't believe in God, but I'm not mad at him," Cupp said in the video, arguing that although some atheists believe they are "somehow disenfranchised or left out of the political process," she does not have the same sentiment as a conservative nonbeliever.
"I'm a conservative atheist and I've felt very welcome by this party," the television host said of the Republican party. "In fact, I'd go so far as to say conservatism is far more intellectually honest and respectful of atheism than liberalism has been."
Cupp then goes on to call out Bill Maher, host of HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" who has made a household name for himself as a left-leaning atheist.
"Bill Maher thinks 95% of the world has a neurological disorder," Cupp says in the video. "I don't think you'd find that on the right. For that reason — I'll say it — I think our atheists are better than yours."
The "Crossfire" host has previously spoken about her atheism as a conservative in the past, telling The Blaze back in September 2013 that she doesn't see a great disconnect between her political and theological beliefs.
"I know that it strikes a lot of people as odd that I could be both conservative and an atheist. To me, it never seemed like a contradiction," she said. "Like most believers, I think murder is pretty terrible. Like most believers, I agree with pretty much all the 10 commandments. We have the same values. I just believe that I get them from somewhere else."
