A CNN host recently engaged in a battle over public prayer with comedian and "The View" host Whoopi Goldberg.

S.E. Cupp, host of CNN's "Crossfire," engaged in what some are describing as an "awkward" debate over public prayer with Goldberg on the Wednesday airing of ABC's "The View" talk show. Cupp, a guest-host on the show, was discussing with Goldberg a recent case in Dublin, Georgia where a group of women were told they could not pray at the local mall because it violated the mall's code of conduct.

Goldberg and Cupp, both atheists, appeared to be having difficulty understanding each other's point of view. The debate began when Whoopi said: "I'm sorry. I don't necessarily want to trip over anyone who's praying. I want you to pray. I want you to pray wherever you are. But I don't want to know you're doing it," adding that she wouldn't want someone to ask her "why aren't you praying over your food?"

To that, Cupp replied that Goldberg didn't have the right to get upset if someone's praying, adding "You don't have that right. Sorry."

The two continued to bicker back and forth until Goldberg clapped her hands at Cupp as if to end the discussion, saying "I just say how I feel. I didn't say you had to listen!"

Cupp has previously been outspoken about her non-religious beliefs as well as her conservative political position, saying in a recent YouTube video uploaded to the "Crossfire" website that she believes the Republican political party is more accepting of atheists than Democrats.
