'Cinderella' Movie Release Date 2015: Trailer Shows Many Plot Twists, Changes In Characters

The first trailer of Disney's new live action "Cinderella" movie, which is due for release next year, has arrived.
It gives viewers a look at Cate Blanchett as the stepmother Lady Tremaine, Helena Bonham Carter as The Fairy Godmother, Lily James as Ella (Cinderella), and Richard Madden as Kit (the Prince).
The movie is a much awaited take on the classic fairytale written by the Brothers Grimm. However, as seen in the trailer, the film promises to deliver many plot twists and changes in characters. One major change that was spotted in the trailer is that the Fairy Godmother watches over Ella as a beggar and does not reveal her identity. Only when Ella is unable to make it to the ball, does the Fairy Godmother make an entrance and perform the magic done to get her to the ball.
Also the film marks the return of Richard Madden since his character Robb Stark was killed off in the series "Game of Thrones"
In "Cinderella," he plays the part of Kit who first meets Ella when she is riding through the woods. He then pretends to be a palace employee even though he is really a prince. This meeting is of significance in the film as Ella thinks of him as a "kindred soul." So when her family receives an invitation to the ball at the palace she expresses eagerness to go and meet him again.
What happens next in the film appears to be fairly predictable with Lady Tremaine taking possession of the glass slipper and keeping Ella away from Kit.
Vanity Fair notes that Blanchett and Carter both shine in their respective roles. It goes on to add that in modern retelling of fairy tales the evil witches and wicked stepmothers usually get to have the most fun on screen, just as Angelina Jolie did in "Maleficent" and Charlize Theron in "Snow White and the Huntsman."
