A prominent Christian film critic recently revealed that the deceased actor Robin Williams "accepted Jesus Christ" at one point in his career, but ended up "always searching and never quite finding."

Ted Baehr, founder of Movieguide and chairman of the Christian Film and Television Commission, said in a recent interview that he met Williams during several press junkets throughout his career, and at one point introduced Williams to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Although Williams later accepted Jesus as his savior during a rehabilitation program, he was never able to fully commit as one of God's followers.

"I shared with him the concrete reality of Jesus and how my life was changed," Baehr told WND in a recent interview, adding that Williams at one point "accepted Jesus Christ," but "he never found the transformation that Jesus brings."

"He was always searching and never quite finding," Baehr added.

Marin County police discovered Williams in his home late Monday morning. The 63-year-old actor had reportedly committed suicide by asphyxiation, and his personal assistant contacted police after the well-known actor failed to respond to knocks on his door.

Both Williams' wife and daughter have offered heartfelt contributions to their deceased relative using social media. Zelda Williams, 25, announced this week that she would be taking a hiatus from her social media accounts due to "cruel" messages she received regarding her father's death.

Williams' wife, Susan Schneider, revealed in a statement Thursday that her husband had been suffering with depression and anxiety, as well as the early stages of Parkinson's Disease, a diagnosis he had not yet shared with the public.

"Robin's sobriety was intact and he was brave as he struggled with his own battles of depression, anxiety as well as early stages of Parkinson's Disease, which he was not yet ready to share publicly," the statement read.

"It is our hope in the wake of Robin's tragic passing, that others will find the strength to seek the care and support they need to treat whatever battles they are facing so they may feel less afraid."
