'Chicago P.D.' season 4 spoilers, plot news: Brian Geraghty confirmed to exit the show, Burgess to have a new partner?

The third season of police procedural spinoff series "Chicago P.D." recently came to a close with some interesting plot twists, and it has been confirmed that the show will push through next season without Roman.
According to TV Line, Brian Geraghty, who portrays Roman has been confirmed to exit the series. As seen in the previous episodes, Roman was gravely injured on the job so he was left to choose if he will continue being in the department with a less active position, or if he will leave the police force for good. The officer decided to leave the Windy City, settling down in sunny San Diego for good. He asked his partner Burgess to join him, but she decided to continue her job as a cop in Chicago. Geraghty's reason for his departure was for him to pursue other projects.
Executive producer Matt Olmstead mentioned that they really wanted the actor to stay, but they respect his decision to leave the show. "I hope that we honored his request," Olmstead said. "He gave us what we needed — two years of doing a really good job on a character that elevated the show. We shook hands at the beginning, we shook hands at the end, and he's off to do great things, I'm sure of it."
Since a spot in the department has been opened, Olmstead plans to give Burgess a partner again but it remains to be seen who that person is. "We've had people come in with shady pasts or unknown agendas and right now," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I think we're looking for someone to come in and partner with Burgess to really re-launch that pairing of two uniforms; a robust pairing as opposed to having to carry somebody or I'm going to look sideways at somebody. We want someone to come in who is already in fifth gear."
The network has yet to announce an official premiere date for "Chicago P.D." season 4, but the series will possibly return to TV screens sometime in Fall.
