'Chicago PD' season 4 spoilers news 2016: EP hints new characters on board, Lindsay and Halstead take their relationship to a new level

Season 3 left off with the couple being more mature with their relationship. As the show progresses, viewers might see the two take their partnership to a whole new level by moving in together. According to executive producer Matt Olmstead, Halstead has reached a point in his life where he would rather invest in a condo instead of putting all his money on rent. He keeps telling Lindsay that he wants to move in with her but the topic always leads to petty arguments.

"[It's] leaning towards why is she resistant to him getting another place? Does she actually want to be with him, move in with him, have him move in with her? That's something we're going to play next season," Olmstead told The Hollywood Reporter.

In the Spoiler Room segment of Entertainment Weekly last month, Olmstead also mentioned about new characters coming to play next season. "We are setting in motion new blood coming in the beginning of next season," he said. After the departure of Roman and Voight being in the middle of a complicated situation, new characters joining the force will make the plot more interesting.

As fans can recall, Roman and his partner/romantic interest Burgess previously got involved in a controversy which caught the attention of the department's higher-ups. They asked Roman if he would like to lie low or pick a new partner, but he chose neither. He later on decided to leave his job for good and go to San Diego to start a new life there. Meanwhile, Voight let a personal matter get in the way of his career by shooting his son's killer. Olmstead hints that next season will see him continue to have "no fuse."
