Nick Wechsler will be joining Chicago's finest for a multi-episode arc in NBC's hit procedural "Chicago P.D."season 4.

According to reports, Wechsler plays the role of Kenny Rixton, Voight's (Jason Beghe) former protégé when he was still working in the gang unit. The arrival of his character comes as the program prepares to bid goodbye to series regular Jon Seda, who is moving to the legal spinoff drama "Chicago Justice" when it premieres midseason next year. Wednesday's fall finale episode will mark Seda's exit from the show.

This won't be Wechsler's first acting stint on NBC, as he previously starred as a recurring character on the short-lived 2015 drama "The Player." Aside from his role as Jack Porter on "Revenge," he was also known for being a cast member of "Roswell."

In a recent interview with Observer, Beghe hinted that his character has mixed emotions about Antonio's (Seda) decision to leave the team. As Antonio's superior, Voight is happy to see his co-worker explore new horizons. However, he is also sad to see a friend and a co-worker go.

"It's actually Voight who suggests that [Antonio go]," the actor explained. "Antonio is like, 'Do you have a problem with me? I heard that you gave the ok,' and I respond, 'I didn't give the ok, I suggested you,' because [Voight knows] that this is good for Antonio. It's not good for Voight, but he says something like, 'I had one good boss when I was coming up; he said to never hold back a rising star. It's time for you to have your own crew.' That's good for Chicago and good for Antonio. Voight is all about doing what's best, from his point of view."

Marina Squerciati, who plays Burgess, also gave a short but cryptic statement on how the fall finale will play out. "Ahhhhhh, let's say.....everything shifts," she told the publication. "Everything you think you know....forget it. No one should get comfortable where they are."

The two-hour fall finale of "Chicago P.D." season 4 airs Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
