Hit American police drama series "Chicago P. D." only has three episodes left before it comes to a close, and this week's episode is nothing short of interesting.

To recap, last week's episode featured the intelligence unit as they made a horrific discovery- an abandoned newborn left outside in the freezing cold. They will stop at nothing to bring those responsible to justice. On another note, Voight was surprised after he found out that his son is in town. Platt comes back after being away for her wedding while Roman and burgess' budding romance continues to progress.

Tonight's episode "Justice" will be special, since it will lay the groundwork for a new spinoff series called "Chicago Justice." Executive producers Michael Brandt and Derek Haas were confirmed to have inked a deal for another spinoff series last month, and their new endeavor will be a legal drama.

According to the official synopsis for episode 21, Burgess will be on trial after she shot an unidentified person who she believes was responsible for shooting her partner. A man wearing a hood opened fire on their patrol car, leaving Roman (Brian Geraghty) wounded. Burgess (Marina Squerciati) quickly takes off to run after the guy but she briefly loses sight of him. The officer immediately shoots in his direction after relocating him, as he turned to her direction with a silver glimmering in his hand. Apparently, no gun or any kind of weapon was found at the crime scene. What makes it even more problematic is that the shooter was identified as a 17-year-old honor student who will likely never walk again after his injuries.

As the public became aware of the case, protests began because they saw it as another incidence of an officer shooting an unarmed teenager who is African-American. Assistant State Attorney Peter Stone (guest star Philip Winchester), the same person who put Voight (Jason Beghe) to prison, was given the task of helping defend Burgess while conducting his own investigation on the controversial case with the guidance of State Attorney Mark Jefferies (guest star Carl Weathers). Stone and his team have to do everything they can to indict the teenager and clear Burgess from any charges, but they must work cautiously since this is a high-profile case.

The guest stars for this episode include Nazneen Contractor, Joelle Carter, Ryan-James Hatanaka, Taylor Kinney, Steven R. McQueen, Kara Kilmer, Colin Donnell, Brian Tee, Marlyne Barrett and Samuel Hunt.

Keep tuning in for the last remaining episodes of "Chicago P. D." which airs every Wednesday at 10 p.m. on NBC.
