'Chicago Med' season 2 episode 6 spoilers: Dr. Manning deals with young cancer patient; 'Chicago P.D.' character crosses over to investigate

Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) gets a return visit from a distressed young teen in a seemingly hopeless situation in the upcoming episode of NBC's medical drama "Chicago Med" season 2.
Titled "Alternative Medicine," the episode airing next week will see the doctors deal with a lot of complications in the hospital. According to the official synopsis, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) tends to a young patient diagnosed with cancer and finds it difficult to let her parents know about her deteriorating health condition. Elsewhere, Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) gets contacted by a distressed young man named Danny (guest star Nick Marini), leading her to eventually turn to Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) and Det. Lindsay (guest star Sophia Bush) for help in fixing a complicated situation.
Meanwhile, Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) and Maggie (Marlyne Barrett) do everything they can to clear the logjam in the hospital. After realizing that both Dr. Latham (guest star Ato Assandoh) and Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) know some things he doesn't, Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) fine-tunes his instincts as a medical practitioner. Also, Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) and Dr. Manning meet a teenage science genius and her friends, who will impress them with their makeshift bio-engineering lab.
After becoming a mother in Season 1, Manning realized that she's ready to move on from her late husband. Season 2 will feature Manning as she enters a new relationship with "Chicago Fire" alum Jeff Clarke (Jeff Hephner), who was introduced in last season's finale as a new medical student.
According to co-showrunner Andrew Schneider, the next episodes of season 2 will see Manning and Clarke in a complicated relationship. "Jeff reminds her of a time when she was a happy person," Schneider explained. "They used to double date. They had good times together. She's comfortable with Jeff. He reminds her of her late husband in a good way, of the happy times. But the fact that he was her late husband's best friend will be an issue in this relationship."
The second season of "Chicago Med" airs every Thursday night at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
