'Chicago Med' season 2 episode 5 spoilers: Team responds to car accident at Chicago Marathon venue; Ato Essandoh talks Dr. Latham-Dr. Rhodes clash

An accident at the venue of the Chicago Marathon launches Chicago med personnel present on the scene into action in the upcoming episode of NBC's medical drama "Chicago Med" season 2.
Titled "Extreme Measures," next week's episode will feature Chicago Med's personnel as they respond to an accident during a major sporting event in the city. According to the official synopsis for episode 5, a car accident occurs at the Chicago Marathon, leaving condition. The incident will test the mettle of Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss), April (Yaya DaCosta) and her fourth-year medical resident brother Noah (guest star Roland Buck III), who are all compelled to perform a difficult procedure in the field.
Meanwhile, a mother brings her 8-year-old daughter suffering from a sudden hearing loss to the hospital. Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) will be tasked to tend to the case, which takes an unexpected and complicated turn. Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) deals with Olga (guest star Betty Buckley), a woman who is severely malnourished, prompting him to ask help from Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt) to give a closer look at the case. Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson), on the other hand, makes an effort to take control of her personal life.
Season 2 picked up with a very rocky start for Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell) and his new mentor Dr. Isidore Latham (Ato Essandoh). The past few episodes saw Rhodes being lambasted in front of his colleagues in the OR, questioned for his capabilities as a doctor, and told that he wasn't Dr. Latham's initial choice as trainee. As the season progresses, viewers will soon realize why Dr. Latham acts that way.
Speaking with TV Guide, Essandoh hinted that Dr. Latham is on the autism spectrum. "The thing about Dr. Latham is he's supremely talented. He has almost a preternatural ability to analyze and diagnose patients that Dr. Rhodes at first is not going to trust but then has to respect," he explained. "So, [Rhodes] will get pushed to the point where he might want to change [careers] and move out of Chicago completely, but I think that he'll start to see other sides of Dr. Latham, particularly with Dr. Latham's talents, and also with other things that Dr. Latham has to do."
The second season of "Chicago Med" airs every Thursday night at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
