'Chicago Fire' season 5 spoilers news: Tension between Boden and Jimmy continues to intensify, character to exit Firehouse 51?
ABC has already greenlighted the fifth season for hit NBC drama "Chicago Fire," which means that there are more stories to tell for the responders of Firehouse 51.
Season 4 left off with tension between new firefighter Jimmy Borrelli (Steven R. McQueen) and Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) building up, and it will definitely carry over when the show returns this Fall. As fans can remember, Jimmy claimed that Boden is responsible for the death of his brother Danny. A building was on the verge of collapsing and crushing everyone inside, so Danny sacrificed his safety to save lives of those who were trapped. The number of casualties was kept to a minimum thanks to Danny's help, but he did not survive. Boden was there when it all happened, and Jimmy blames him for Danny's death.
In an interview with executive producer Matt Olmstead, he mentioned that the friction between the two characters might eventually lead to one of them leaving the Chicago Fire Department. "The main battle going into next season is [between Jimmy and Boden], and one of them isn't going to be around [after it]," Olmstead said. This means that the department will lose one of its own, but it remains to be seen who that character may be.
Olmstead also hinted further "complications" which will get in the way of Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Gabriella Dawson's relationship as they raise their son Louie. Casey previously decided to focus more on being a parent with Dawson instead of pursuing a political career, but they might face more difficulties this coming season 5. Meanwhile, Kelly Severide's (Taylor Kinney) confrontation with Stella's unhinged ex-boyfriend Grant will also cause a strain in their budding romance, leading Severide to distance from Stella.
