'Chicago Fire' season 5 news, updates and spoilers: New complications among Firehouse 51 personnel, Casey and Dawson to get married?

Popular NBC drama "Chicago Fire" recently came to a close with a happy ending for Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Dawson (Monica Raymund), as they got over yet another obstacle in their relationship. Meanwhile, new complications arise in Firehouse 51 as the tension between Jimmy (Steven R. McQueen) and Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) continues to intensify.
How will the events in the season-ender lay the groundwork for the season 5 plot? Showrunner Steve Molaro recently caught up with The Hollywood Reporter to shed light on what viewers should expect once the show returns. Fans who have watched the show since day one know the ups and downs Casey and Dawson experienced in their relationship. Now that they are back together, does this mean that the couple might tie the knot next season? "It's a possibility, for sure," Molaro explained. "...it's two blissfully wedded people who don't have a care in the world. But we're at the point in their relationship where I think it's a real possibility and we're not afraid to explore it."
As of now, Molaro admits that adding a new face in the series is not in his plan. Certain complications need to be resolved first before a new character can enter the scene. "First order of business is resolving the thing that we've set up at the end of this episode and the major thing is it becomes pretty clear that someone's going to go, whether it's Jimmy or Boden," he said. "Then, after that is resolved, we'll see about potentially adding a cast member."
Jimmy still struggles with his brother's death, and he thinks Boden is responsible for it. The tension between them further intensifies, to the point that his job is affected by what he's going through. This conflict will definitely carry on next season, which might be one of the highlights of the show. "It sends some reverberations through the house as you might imagine, but there are no long-term prospects for Jimmy until he figures out how he's going to approach this," the showrunner discussed. "The choice is very simple for him: Accept everybody else at their word that it was an accident, let it go and be a firefighter or go to the mat trying to take Boden down, which he may accomplish. Either Boden's going to go or Jimmy's going to go in the next season, for sure."
The network has yet to officially announce a premiere date for "Chicago Fire" season 5, but based on the previous seasons, the series might return to the small screen sometime around September or October this year.
