There might be trouble in paradise for Detectives Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) when "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" returns for its fourth season later this month.

Season 3 left off with the team successfully taking down Figgis' (unknown actor) operation although Figgis himself is still on the run. While the squad celebrates, Jake receives a call from Figgis who threatens his and Capt. Holt's (Andre Braugher) lives. The last moments of the finale featured both Jake and Holt in witness protection under the names "Greg" (Holt) and "Larry" (Jake) as they live next door to each other in Coral Palms, Florida.

Since Jake has been away for quite some time, there will be some tension between him and Amy when he comes back to New York. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, Samberg assured the two characters won't be breaking up but their relationship will go through some challenges.

"It's not putting it in jeopardy," he said. "But they miss each other a lot. Eventually, they will see each other again and it's hard for them to get back into sync." Executive producer Dan Goor also weighed in, saying: "It's awkward to make up time after not seeing each other for six months. When they first see each other, that might cause some tension."

The fourth season picks up with Jake and Holt still spending their time in Florida. According to the official synopsis for the premiere titled "Coral Palms Pt. 1," the duo will continue adjusting to their new lives under the Witness Protection Program while Jimmy "The Butcher" Figgis remains at large.U.S. Marshall Karen Haas (guest star Maya Rudolph) is their only human link to their regular lives is but their anonymity may be compromised when a video of them goes viral.

Tune in to the premiere of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 on Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
