The officers of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will meet the "New Girl" gang for an interesting crossover episode this Fall.

Two of Fox's long-running comedy programs will stage a rare crossover episode set to air on on Tuesday, Oct. 11. The one-hour back-to-back stint will begin on "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" at 8/7c and will wrap up on "New Girl" at 8:30/7:30c, the network announced during the Television Critics Association summer press tour.

The plot for the said episode is still under wraps but according to Fox, the  New Girl characters will be travelling to Brooklyn Nine-Nine's turf in the Big Apple. The premium cabler is no stranger to mashing up its popular programs. "Sleepy Hollow" and "Bones" had a successful crossover last year, earning both shows its best ratings for the entire season.

In a press statement, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" co-creator Dan Goor revealed the crossover is only first of the many gimmicks they have in store for fans. "Stay tuned for our two cast to do a soulful R&B number on Empire, co-anchor the FOX 10 O'Clock News and connect for a touchdown on NFL Sunday," he joked.

"But in all seriousness, we're all huge fans of New Girl here at the Nine-Nine, and we're excited to see our characters interact and to work with their incredible writers and producers," Good continued. "And also to see what their craft services are like, compared to ours."

On another note, Ken Marino has been confirmed as Nine-Nine's new captain. While Det. Jake Peralta and Capt. Holt are still in Florida for the witness protection program, Marino's character named C.J. will fill in to head the department. Unlike Holt, he is not much of a disciplinarian which will be much appreciated by the rest of the detectives.

Marino joins "SNL" star Maya Rudolph who was recently cast for a two-episode arc as a U.S. Marshall who serves as a liaison for Holt and Jake.

Tune in to all-new episodes of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 which premieres on Tuesday, Sept. 20 on Fox.
