Fox network's popular police sitcom, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is scheduled to return this Fall for its fourth season, with Jake Peralta and the rest of the gang to investigate more interesting cases.

Aside from fighting crime and the characters' hilarious antics, the show also features the romantic relationships inside the precinct. In an interview with Gold Derby, series creator Dan Goor explained that even though Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy Santiago's (Melissa Fumero) romance is an interesting addition to the story, he does not plan on making the show revolve around the couple."Early on we stumbled into this thing where they talked to each other," said Goor. "It is nice to see. They tell each other what they feel. We've tried to make the relationship just a part of our show and not the central part."

As for what the Golden Globe-winning comedy show will bring to the table next season, Goor hints that separate groups of writers are currently working out the new storyline. "Literally right now as we break season four, I have one room breaking episode two, and then I have another room talking about arcs that could motivate the whole season. It's a balancing act," he added.

Season 3 left off with Jake and Captain Holt placed under witness protection, but according to Goor, most of the episodes in the upcoming season will still be set in Brooklyn. With the extra time they will be spending together, Jake and Holt are expected to become closer this season. "We're going to be in Florida for at least a few episodes, but obviously, it's Brooklyn Nine-Nine and they're going to end up being put back in Brooklyn," Goor told Yahoo! TV. "We will see how it turns out, but I'm trying to use this also to sort of change certain dynamics. Like, what happens to Jake and Holt when they're in Florida and Holt is no longer technically Jake's boss? How does that change their dynamic? That seemed like a fun thing to look at, and later in the year, I think we might experiment with them all being on the night shift. Who's awake at that hour? Who do you have to deal with? What happens to a cop's personal life when their spouse is awake during the day and they're awake at night?"

Find out the answers in "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 which premieres this coming September 20, Tuesday at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
