'Boruto: Naruto the Movie 2' release date news 2016: New Naruto film not happening this year; 'Boruto' manga series in the works

After "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" was released, many fans have been waiting for news about the anticipated follow-up movie about Naruto's only son. However, much to the dismay of those wanting for new adventures of Boruto, the filming of the second movie is not expected to happen anytime this year.
"Boruto: Naruto the Movie" was a huge anime blockbuster movie when it premiered last year, and it would not be a surprise if a sequel will be made following its success. Several "Naruto" followers around the world also would like to see more of the Seventh Hokage's son as he strives to be as great as his father. However, CrossMap reported that the much-anticipated sequel for "Boruto" has already been cancelled due to unknown reasons.
According to the same report, there are a lot of speculations among the fans regarding the cancellation of the second movie. One sound rumor says that the creative team will not have enough time to develop a follow-up story for Boruto as they are currently busy with another big project called "The True Legend of Itachi." Christian Post reported that the reported solo project for Uchiha Itachi was already planned. Given the popularity of Itachi among the fans, it is no surprise that much time and effort will be given to the creation of Itachi-inspired movies.
Another cited reason for the "Boruto" movie not pushing through is the currently developing "Boruto" manga series that is expected to be released on May 9. Even if "Naruto" fans will not be able to see Boruto in the big screen, he will be given his solo adventures through several manga issues. As seen in the first "Boruto" movie, Naruto is expected to assume a mature character unlike his younger version in the "Naruto" manga series. He will be seen as a solid father figure and role model to Boruto, as his son is slowly shaped up to become a strong ninja warrior.
