'Borderlands 3' news 2016: Gearbox is now more focused on the upcoming movie adaptation of the game?
After numerous speculations and rumors, the upcoming next installment of the "Borderlands" franchise is finally confirmed and the development of the game may start anytime soon.

Gearbox Software CEO, Randy Pitchford, has previously confirmed through his Twitter account that the company is looking for team members to help them with their next project, which is the "Borderlands 3."
Although Pitchford and the rest of Gearbox Software has yet to provide specific details with regard to its plot and release date, fans believe that development of the next title might have just started already.
For the meantime, while fans are waiting for updates about the much anticipated video game, news about a movie adaptation is circulating all over the gaming world. Apparently, the company is in negotiation with Lionsgate and Arad Productions regarding their plan to make a "Borderlands" movie.
The CEO is said to be pretty excited with the film project. During an interview with GameIndustry.biz, he hopes that the movie will help the franchise widen its gaming audience. He added that Arad Productions, which is owned by Avi and Ari Arad, could help him promote the series to different markets.
"I trust those guys a lot. Ari and Avi Arad are great. And Ari really wants to be the guy to figure out how to make good video game movies," Pitchford said.
He also believes that although it is hard to make a film adaptation out from a video game, the father and son tandem of Avi and Ari Arad can certainly do it basing from their experience with Marvel.
"He figured out how to make comic book movies that are really fun and do right by the franchises that are really engaging and entertaining for large audiences," he said. "That gives me a lot of hope that working with them we can figure out a good film."
At this time, fans still have to wait for Gearbox for the official announcement of "Borderlands 3." All information about its release date and plot must be taken with a grain of salt.
