Actor Kevin Costner wants the daughter of his "The Bodyguard" co-star, the late Whitney Houston, to have a second chance in life.

During a press conference for his upcoming film, "McFarland, USA," Costner opened up about Bobbi Kristina Brown, who was found unresponsive in a bathtub inside her home on Jan. 31.

"We understand absolutely the pressure that the family's under... We want her to have a second chance. That's what we want for her," Costner told Entertainment Weekly.

"And if Bobbi could maybe retrace her steps, she'd maybe want a second chance at this, because life is precious. You get this one time, and sometimes in getting a second chance we're able to make the most of our lives," the actor added.

Houston's daughter to Bobby Brown is still fighting for her life following a near-drowning incident, an eerily similar situation that caused her mother's death three years ago.

Costner, who delivered a heartfelt eulogy at the late singer's funeral, earlier told People magazine that he "can't imagine" what Bobbi Kristina's family is going through right now.

The 60-year-old veteran star admitted he hasn't spoken to his co-star's daughter in "a little while," hoping he could've done more to help Bobbi Kristina's mother in retrospect.

On Tuesday's CBS News, he reflected on the "unique window" he had with Whitney back when they were filming and promoting "The Bodyguard," which came out in 1992.

"I was right there. I held her hand. And I wasn't able to hold her hand after that. And I watched her journey. I watched the spiral," he said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

"There was two or three times when I was asked to write her letters, that maybe this would have a level of impact on her. I wrote those letters. I never heard back. I was told that she got them. But she went away," he added.

The actor also urged fans to offer prayer that can help Bobbi Kristina and other young people, who are going through the same ordeal.

Costner issued the statement a day after authorities focused in on the 21-year-old's boyfriend, Nick Gordon, in looking for answers as to why Bobbi Kristina was discovered face down in a bathtub.
