'Blue Bloods' season 7 spoilers, plot news: First official photo released; Danny gets grilled in court for Thomas Wilder case

The Reagan clan is all-set to return to the small screen later this month, and a new promo image for "Blue Bloods" season 7 has been released.
CBS' long-running cop drama is nearing its seventh season and based on the latest official photo, things are not looking good for Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg). The image from the premiere episode titled "The Greater Good" features Danny being grilled by an attorney during a trial for the Thomas Wilder case. The plot for episode 1 will center on Danny as he faces heavy scrutiny over the result of the said case, which he initially thought was closed after he took justice into his own hands and murdered the serial killer.
Unfortunately for him, new evidences have surfaced which might change the court ruling. As fans can recall, Danny's decision to kill Wilder was partly for revenge. During their confrontation in the previous season, Wilder bluffed that he had a gun, forcing Danny to shoot first. Now, his past actions are coming back to haunt him.
According to spoiler reports, Danny will meet a lawyer named Michael Lewis from the Attorney General's office. Michael's main objective is to prove that Danny's self-defense alibi is not true. He will present evidences to prove that Danny killed Wilder because he became a huge threat to the safety of his family.
Guest stars for season 7 include "Fuller House" star Lori Loughlin, who is set to appear in the premiere. She will play the role of a mother who asks help from Frank in convincing her son not to pursure a career as a police officer. Since the episode will be tackling a present-day issue, there are speculations that the theme will be explored further in future episodes.
Catch the upcoming seventh season premiere of "Blue Bloods" on Friday, Sept. 23 at 10 p.m. EST on CBS.
