Critically-acclaimed dark family drama "Bloodline" wrapped up its sophomore run in May with a major cliffhanger which kept viewers on the edge of their seats. Fortunately, the show's fate no longer hangs in the balance because Netflix officially greenlit a third season with 10 episodes scheduled to premiere next year.

"Todd, Daniel, and Glenn have created a riveting family saga featuring one of the most talented ensembles in the history of television. We can't wait to see what the next chapter holds for the all-too-human Rayburns," Netflix Original Content vice president Cindy Holland's press statement reads.

Season 3 will finally see if John, who murdered their black sheep brother Danny, will decide to leave Keys for good. Main cast members including Kyle Chandler, Sissy Spacek, Linda Cardellini, Norbert Leo Butz, and Ben Mendelsohn will reprise their roles as the members of the Rayburn clan.

According to Zap2it, the upcoming season will possibly include new locations now that John is on the run. Where he will go remains uncertain, but if one thing is for sure, the Florida Keys will still be the series' home base. Season 2 featured characters jumping to and from New York which means new settings will not be a surprising addition when the show returns next year.

John's wife Diana might take the lead in the story while he is away. Without her husband, she must step up to protect her family, meaning fans will see her in a much bigger role. Despite being a one-dimensional character at first, she has proven to be a tough woman particularly when pushed to her limits. Viewers should look forward to how far she is willing to go in order to keep her children away from danger. Roy Gilbert's plan is also expected to be unraveled next season. His ties with the Rayburns turned out to be very deep and hopefully, the third season will eventually reveal his ulterior motive.

Netflix has yet to announce an official premiere date for "Bloodline" season 3 which airs next year.
