The team must race the clock in order to stop the series of New York City bombings in the upcoming episode of NBC's hit action drama "Blindspot" season 2.

Titiled "Hero Fears Imminent Rot," Wednesday's episode will feature yet another high-stakes hour as the team deals with a series of bombings in New York City. According to the official synopsis for episode 3, Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and the team must immediately take action to stop the pattern of bombings in the Big Apple. Meanwhile, Jane's (Jaimie Alexander) life will be on the line after she is compelled to execute an assassination mission alone to prove her loyalty.

The assassination mission is Jane's first test from her mother Shepherd (Michelle Hurd), who still believes she's someone who shouldn't be trusted. Roman (Luke Mitchell), Jane Doe's (Jaimie Alexander) brother, is tasked with encouraging Jane to return as an operative in Sandstorm. Tonight's episode will see Roman and Shepherd put Jane to the test, so they can determine if her loyalty belongs to them or to the FBI.

Mitchell recently caught up with TV Guide, and he hinted that the coming episodes will see Roman struggle standing in between his mother and sister, particularly now that a part of him wants to trust Jane. What makes everything worse for him is that he knows Jane remains deeply invested in the FBI. "It's really tricky. Roman wants to trust her; he wants to believe in her," he explained. "He has the most hope. He leads her back to Sandstorm; he's willing to believe she can come back, whereas Shepherd is very skeptical. Based on what she's seen so far and the stories that Jane's told, she's not quite ready to believe."

The second season of "Blindspot" airs every Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
