The first season of "Blindspot" left off with Jane Doe being taken away into custody, but she won't be there for long. A bigger threat looms in the upcoming season 2, and unfortunately, Jane's old friends in the FBI cannot keep her from harm's way.

According to TV Guide, the plot for season 2 will take place after a three-month time jump. Familiar faces will make their way back to Jane's (Jamie Alexander) life and not all of them are allies. One of the characters who will be present is the unhinged ex-member of Jane and Oscar's group, Cade (Tom Lipinski). He is still targeting Jane and he will make sure that his plan materializes.

Executive producer Martin Gero recently shared some details on what fans should expect in the coming season. "It will surprise you not at all that the themes are redemption and family," he told Entertainment Weekly. Aside from the interesting storyline which will focus on the said themes, a new character will be introduced. Archie Panjabi landed a yet-to-be-named character who will be in charge of an NSA secret division keeping a close eye on Jane's case.

Gero previously stated that season 2 will somewhat have similarities with the first season in terms of how the storytelling goes. "We've come up with a really good and organic way that the show can operate in a similar fashion to how it did in the first season," he explained, "but with a lot more stakes and being a lot more complicated. We get back into the Jane Doe business in a really interesting way in the beginning of season 2."

With Jane in a difficult situation, it would be interesting how the themes of family and redemption will come into play when the show returns to the small screen.

Tune in to the season 2 premiere of "Blindspot" which is scheduled to air this coming Sept. 14 on NBC.
