Blackberry DTEK60 news, features, release date: BlackBerry outsourced hardware manufacturer for DTEK60

Last September, BlackBerry confirmed that they will be focusing their efforts on developing software, but with the release of their latest Android phone, the DTEK60, it seems like the company isn't completely letting go of their smartphone line.
Since BlackBerry has previously announced that the company won't be tackling projects that have to do with building hardware, it won't be creating the hardware for the DTEK60, only the software. The DTEK60 is BlackBerry's third Android smartphone unit. BlackBerry confirmed the development of the phone last Tuesday.
According to reports, a Chinese company called TCL offered to build the hardware for the smartphone, while giving BlackBerry the permission to place their brand on the mobile device.
It was only in July when BlackBerry revealed their latest smartphone unit, the DTEK50. The device boasts an unlocked system, but at the same time, it was built with security in mind. Though many were excited for the smartphone, disappointment permeated through the tech industry when the mobile turned out to be similar to the Alcatel Idol 4.
The DTEK60 will feature a 5.5-inch display with quad-HD resolution. The smartphone will be built with a metal frame as well as a dual-glass panel design. The feature that tech enthusiasts should look forward to is the fingerprint scanner, which will be located at the rear of the smartphone. The DTEK60 will have 3,000 mAh battery and a microSD slot. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. Furthermore, the device is expected to have a higher resolution camera. The rear camera will have 21 MP.
The operating system, on the other hand, will be the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Rumor has it that BlackBerry is working out a plan so that the device will have the Nougat OS.
Tech enthusiasts BlackBerry can purchase the DTEK60 from BlackBerry's website for $499.
