'Black Sails' season 4: release date set for January 2017, executive producers give teasers

The third season of epic TV series "Black Sails" might be over, but it is never too soon to talk about season 4. Starz confirmed a season renewal last year, and viewers are now aching to know what's next for "Black Sails." No word from the network when it comes to an official release date but according to reports, the show will premiere sometime in January 2017. This assumption is in line with the release dates of previous seasons, which are always during the first month of the year.
Executive producers Jonathan Steinberg and Robert Levine was recently interviewed by Inverse to discuss the upcoming season, and they gave hints on what fans should expect. When it comes to characters who will have major arcs next season, Steinberg mentioned Silver will definitely be one of them. "Silver is explored in a way and to a degree that — even by Season 3 standards — is more intense. Luke Arnold has really been impressive. Madi is another character we knew was going to be relevant, but becomes pretty relevant pretty quickly," he said.
There are also talks of an appearance by Mary Read, but Levine is afraid that there won't be any place for her in the show. "There are people we'd love to introduce, but their spots are taken by other characters. Max and Eleanor are the two characters with the biggest footprint who are our constructs. The room is getting crowded."
With the success of the series, the showrunners were asked if the next season will be the end of the show. "It's hard to say. We've been spoiled by getting renewed so early in the past. We have an end for Season 4 that we're very happy with," Steinberg said. Levine does not seem to be thinking that far ahead, saying, "It stops short of the book, but more than any show that I've ever worked on, Black Sails production is very intense. We take it one season at a time."
