Netflix's sci-fi series "Black Mirror" is set to premiere later this year, and the creators recently gave details on the plot and their preparations for season 3.

The upcoming season will have six episodes — one of which was co-written
by "The Office" and "Parks and Recreation" star Rashida Jones and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" executive producer Mike Schur. According to co-creator Charlie Brooker, the two have been fans of the show even before taking part in the production. "It turned out they were fans of the show, and the feelings were mutual," he said during the Television Critics Association's press tour in Los Angeles last Wednesday.

Joe Wright is set to direct the episode while Bryce Dallas Howard will be the lead star. "It was a social satire about identity in the social media age," Brooker continued. "That's about the most boring way I could describe it."

"10 Cloverfield Lane" director Dan Trachtenberg also wrote an episode for the series and it will revolve around the subject of video games, Variety reports.

Brooker also clarified that despite focusing on the concepts of society and technological advancements, they never wanted to present technology as the villain in every story. Instead, the series is about how humans deal with their mistakes. Jones explained further, saying: "The tech is really not even present. It's about society and it's about how we communicate, the online rage and the consequences of that. These stories tend to be about the modern age and the modern world that we live in."

"Black Mirror" is a British TV program with an anthology format similar to "The Twilight Zone," and each episode tells a different story highlighting the connections between technology and society. Initially aired on Channel 4, the series quickly gained popularity worldwide after being added to Netflix. The last episode, a Christmas special featuring Jon Hamm, aired back in 2014.

"Black Mirror" season 3 will be released in its entirety on Oct. 21.
