'Battlefield 1' news: Massive update launches free DLC map 'Giant's Shadow,' new Spectator mode, and numerous tweaks

A massive update for "Battlefield 1" is finally out, featuring numerous improvements and a new map.
According to reports, the huge patch launches the game's first free DLC map called Giant's Shadow, along with the grenade-crossbow weapon. The file is 3.84 GB on Xbox One, although its size on PC and PlayStation 4 is yet to be confirmed. "Battlefield 1" Premium members can now play the new map, while everyone else can only access it starting Dec. 20.
Some of the notable changes brought by the update include a cooldown for syringes to prevent "revive trains" where one medic is able to revive many players in one go. It also features tweaks to recoil values and the weakening of a few shotguns. As for bug fixes, the latest patch fixes a problem with "horse-twitching" caused by explosives. The issue of players becoming invisible when exiting particular vehicles is also resolved.
As Kotaku points out, one of the new features from the game's December update is the spectator mode. The said tool is easy to use as it enables players to see the Great War from a different and interesting perspective. A user can access the spectator mode when selecting the server, and a quick glance at the information will allow them to join as a spectator. Upon selecting the option, a player will have powerful camera tools that can be used to observe action-packed multiplayer moments.
During gameplay, spectator mode allows shifting between soldiers and adjusting the camera which creates some intense moments. Since a single match of multiplayer has a lot of stories behind it, the mode makes it easier to see them. The changing viewpoints also complement the game's stunning visuals and audio. The full patch notes written by EA DICE can be viewed on the "Battlefield forums.
Developed by EA DICE and published by Electronic Arts, "Battlefield 1" is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows PC.
