'Batman: A Telltale Game' Series news: Release date and gameplay

Without giving too many details, Telltale's Job Stauffer said that the latest Batman game is due to arrive summer of this year.

Telltale Games writer Pierre Shorette further stressed that a lot of effort was placed into how the story will take shape. At an SXSW Gaming panel, he showed a photograph of the game's script. "That's episode one of five episodes," Shorette said. "Branching makes a lot of things. So, it's a ton of writing, and because it's a ton of writing, I think that's why we have to be script first, and story first," he explained. Apart from the Caped Crusader, the game will focus on Bruce Wayne as well. Polygon asked Telltale Games if a gameplay entirely using Bruce Wayne is possible, to which he replied, "Not the entire game." He additionally said, "We do think that's something we're going to offer people."

In a blog post by Telltale posted right after their SXSW panel, it was discussed that the game will let the player decide upon situations either as Batman or Bruce, along with different consequences. Moreover, gamers can expect a "fresh interpretation of the universe set in current times, not tied to any existing iteration of Batman in games, film, or comics" from the upcoming "Batman: A Telltale Games Series." Fans will also have to anticipate the gameplay's "non-photorealistic" appearance, inspired by comic book artists including Neal Adams, Jim Lee and Greg Capullo.

As far as new technology and features are concerned, Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner mentioned having "a lot of new Telltale stuff." In comparison with the older games of the company, Bruner added, "It's still a Telltale game, but it will be evolved from what you've seen [from Telltale] before. But I think a more significant step than you've seen from any of our products in the past, both technologically and creatively I think there's a lot of really cool things going into Batman."
