'Bates Motel' season 5 spoilers, plot news: Norma still alive in Norman's mind; Who should portray Marion Crane?
"Bates Motel" got everyone talking after the shocking season 4 finale death, leading fans to be more excited about what season 5 may bring to the table.

The fourth season left off with the show's female lead Norma dying, as her son Norman finally embraced the full-blown psycho in him. His insanely twisted mind led him to dig up his mother's dead body and glued her eyes open just to give him the illusion that she is alive and well. It remains to be seen how the show will move forward after that surprising plot twist, but if one thing is for sure, the character's portrayer Vera Farmiga won't be going anywhere.
In an interview with TV Line, executive producer Carlton Cuse explained that she will continue to exist in Norman's mind. "She's existing now in Norman's brain," he explained. "In the original Psycho you don't really know anything about Norma Bates. You just know that she's a corpse, and you imagine that she was this shrew of a woman who berated her son into becoming crazy. But we re-imagined their relationship as this complex, intense, co-dependent love story. And that relationship continues very much in Season 5. It just has a different dimension, which is that she's dead. [Laughs] But it's not the end of the story."
The show draws its source material from the 60's cult-classic "Psycho," and one of the film's most iconic characters Marion Crane will join the cast. Casting is currently underway for the said character, and Zap2it laid out a list of actresses who could possibly fit the role of the original scream queen. The list includes Jane Levy ("Suburgatory"), Sarah Paxton ("The InnKeepers"), Lizzy Caplan ("Masters of Sex"), Katharine Isabelle ("American Mary") and Vera Farmiga's younger sister Taissa ("American Horror Story"). These are all just guesses, so readers are advised to take them with a grain of salt.
"Bates Motel" season 5 premieres sometime next year on A&E.
