'Attack on Titan' video game Western release set for summer, new trailer unveiled

Koei Tecmo

Good news for "Attack on Titan" fans located in Europe and North America, as the widely-popular video game will head Westward this summer. Koei Tecmo recently released the game in Japan, before finally announcing a Western arrival date.

As noted by Forbes, the exact release date for Europe is on August 26, where the video game will be entitled "Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom." Meanwhile, August 30 is the launch date for the game, where it will simply be called "Attack on Titan." A multiplayer mode is included, which allows players to take down titans with their friends. Furthermore, the media outlet also reviewed the game, which reads, "Overall, I really enjoyed playing Attack on Titan. Being able to traverse the environment and fluidly take out giants felt great. While there are some glitches and it could get repetitive for some, I can still happily recommend this to any curiously minded gamer and doubly so if you are an Attack on Titan fan."

According to VG247, the latest offering from developer Omega Force covers the first season of the anime, which enables the players to "re-live the story's events and exploits of key characters." Siliconera reported that during its first week in Japan, the blockbuster game sold roughly 150,682 copies, outselling equally popular "Street Fighter V." As of March, the game has already sold a combined total of 238,758 copies.

"Attack on Titan" is a video game based on the famous manga series of the same name. As of the moment, it is available for Play Station 3, Play Station 4, and Play Station Vita in Japan. In addition to the Play Station platforms, the Western version will also be available for Xbox One and PC via Steam. The official game trailer featuring the main characters and the titular Titans can be viewed here.
