"Attack on Titan," a highly-successful anime series that tells the story of humanity being threatened by gigantic humanoids called the Titans, is reported to be on its way for a second season. The second part is slated for release this year. However, Gamezone reported that the preparations and development for "Attack on Titan" season 2 have been halted. Fans may have to wait another year to at least confirm the premiere of the series' new chapter.

While the news sounds frustrating, it can be thought of a way to improve the viewing of fans as the delay will keep the anime series fast-paced and avoid having filler episodes just to let the manga series catch up.

As reported in the Movie Pilot website, the "Attack on Titan" manga series is only two arcs ahead of the anime series, and the creator of the manga is still currently writing the continuation of the story. If Season 2 will push through with the production and release this year, it would mean having to create additional episodes that are not present in the manga and have no contribution to the continuity of the series' plotline, thus setting the story in a slow place with less excitement.

To make sure that the series will keep its fast pace and thrill among the fans, the creation of "Attack on Titan" Season 2 has been suspended indefinitely. Hajime Isayama, the creator of the series, and Tetsuro Araki, the director of the anime, both agreed that the manga should be four story arcs ahead of the anime series so that creating an original content or "filler" will not be needed. They also acknowledged the desire of the fans to keep the manga and the anime linked together as much as possible.

As the anime series is only lagging two story arcs behind the manga, Araki could not continue making the second season without resorting the additional filler episodes, which would likely dismay the fans.
