'Attack On Titan' Season 2 release date, spoilers news: Premiere pushed back to January 2017 due to other projects

This year's much-awaited anime series "Attack on Titan" has been the talk of the town since its previous delays in the premiere, but new reports claim that the show's second season will roll out sometime in January next year.
The show's production was previously held up by several reasons, like the manga not being four story arcs ahead of the anime and lack of source material. Fans have grown weary of waiting for months to see new episodes of their favorite show. Rumor has it that the most recent delay is caused by an upcoming animated series titled "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress." TetsurÃ… Araki, who is the director of "Attack on Titan," will also be directing the said series which means that scheduling issues will likely get in the way of the show's production. Because of that, reports say the production team in Kodansha now aims to release season 2 by January 2017.
Details about the storyline are still being kept under wraps, but there are some theories regarding the plot surfacing online. There are speculations that the Titans' backstory will be explored next season. In season 1, the monstrous creatures were introduced as naked giants who terrorize villages and eat the humans for reasons unknown. Season 2 is expected to explain how they became that way and why they only eat humans.
Two story arcs are also expected to be included next season: "Clash of the Titans" and "Uprising Arcs." Levi Ackerman's death is rumored to be one of the highlights of the show, along with the revelation of the Colossal Titan and the Armored Titan's real identities.
As for other related news, a special edition of "Attack on Titan" manga series will hit the shelves on Aug. 2. The cover is done by Pablo Rivera, and along with the manga copy, buyers will also get an "Attack on Titan: No Regrets" DVD included in the special edition set.
