Attack on Titan Season 2 Release Date: Prequel the Priority, Fans Eagerly Await New Season

Attack on Titan, also known as Shingeki No Kyojin in Japan, was released last year and it is, no doubt, one of the most popular animes to come out in the previous year. It was the adaptation of the 2009 Manga, which was illustrated by Hajime Iyasama, and is about human kind's struggle to protect their city against giant called "Titans", who happen to have a knack of destroying all things and munching on people.

The story focuses on Eren Jaeger, one of the young adults recruited by the Survey Corps whose role is to fend off the Titans using their oversized grappling hooks and mechanized swords. In the later parts of the first season, it was revealed that there's some sort of connection between Titans and humans and that Eren would play a big part in putting this endless struggle to an end.

Recently, Otaku House, a Singapore-based online shop posted news regarding Attack on Titan Season 2, stating that it will be released on July 2015.

This announcement was made on April 1, but as expected it was an April Fools joke, which fooled many people. The prank spread out like wildfire on the internet, but Otaku House did confirm shortly after that it was just a prank.

So even until now there is no official word from the creators of the anime if Attack on Titan Season 2 will be around soon, or even next year. Fans need not fret though as there are also some spin-offs in the works, as well as a live action film, which will cover both Season 1 and the prequel, Attack on Titan: No Regrets. Joji Wada of Wit Studio, the producers of the anime, did say that they are definitely considering a second season, but for this year, they are more focused on the prequel, which is to be bundled with a limited edition manga.
