Since "Attack on Titan" began airing in 2013, the series has gained a loyal cult following as it grew to be one of Japan's most successful franchises. Fans of the hit anime have been waiting for a long time to see another season of their favorite series, and it is speculated to return sometime this year. Wit Studio released its roster of shows for 2016 and based on the screenshot posted by Twitter user @Shonen_lord, "Attack on Titan" will surely be out before 2016 ends.

Meanwhile, spoilers for season 2 have been making the rounds online, and a lot of theories from fans have been surfacing. One of which point to the backstory of the man-eating titans being discussed further next season. As all avid fans know, the voracious monsters make the plot more interesting. However, their origins have not been explored even in the pilot season. A theory about their history claims that the titans were once humans too, but an unexpected turn of events led them to become the beast that they are.  An example is a scene during the Battle of Castle Utgard Arc, where a Titan recognized one of the protagonists "by face and name."

Furthermore, a leaked scene from season 2 suggests that Hanji will stop at nothing to figure out what transpired before the surprising revelation in the previous season's finale. In the last episode, Hanji was shocked to see that the walls were actually made from the dead titans. The main characters will also discover a conspiracy which links the government to the titans, so more of the political situation in X will be discussed. They will continue to battle it out with the titans, but the fight will extend across the borders as they go to the countryside.

A premiere date has yet to be announced, but speculations claim that series might debut around summer.
