'Attack on Titan' Season 2 release date news 2016: New season expected this 2016? Main characters die, new Titans to be introduced

There is still no confirmed air date for the second season of "Attack on Titan." The highly successful anime series has been under an indefinite hiatus since the first season ended last year. However, there are rumors that the much-anticipated new chapter of Eren and the rest of the Survey Corps fighting the malevolent titans will be shown as early as 2016. More titans are expected to be introduced in the series, although some of the main characters in Season 1 are in danger of getting killed.

Game N Guide recently reported the rumor that the filming of "Attack on Titan" Season 2 has already commenced. This is due to earlier reports this year that the new script for the new "Attack on Titan" chapter was already finished, raising speculations that the actual filming of scenes for the second season already started. If this were the case, then it is also possible that the premiere of Season 2 will happen as early as this year. However, that will depend on the progress of the ongoing production stage.

There are other reports suggesting that "Attack on Titan" Season 2 will be shown in February 2017 instead. Specifically, the creators of "Attack on Titan" has other projects to deal with for the meantime. One of the other major anime projects that the "AoT" creators must focus on is "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress."

Meanwhile, Movie News Guide reported that new villainous titans will be introduced in the second season of "Attack on Titan." It is expected that the Beast Titan will finally be shown in the anime version, where he will lead a huge army of flesh-eating humanoid giants as he tries to steal the throne back to his clan.

If there will be new characters in the series, the fans can also expect old timers to bid farewell. It is rumored that one of the main characters of "Attack on Titan" will meet his end once the second season opens in the coming months.
