'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date news 2016: New season delayed again, Spanish anime distributor confirms
The second season of the popular anime series "Attack on Titan" is being delayed once again.

Announced in 2015 and slated for release in mid-April this year, the new season of "Attack on Titan" had already been delayed to give the anime's creators time to make new content. Now, its release is once again being moved back, as reported by the Spanish anime distributor Selecta Vision.
Fans have been waiting nearly two years for the new season of "Attack on Titan." The anime series, which first aired in 2013 and has since received positive reviews from viewers, was delayed in April to give the team behind it more time to build on the story arc presented in the manga.
Previous reports indicated that the Japanese anime series, an adaptation of the internationally successful manga, was postponed so that the manga's story could get ahead of the anime's. MoviePilot reported that the makers of the anime wanted the manga to be at least four story arcs ahead of the TV adaptation.
Now, Otaku Tale reports that Manu Guerrero, the marketing director of Selecta Vision, has confirmed that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will not be released this year. Instead, it will begin airing in January 2017.
During a podcast with Mision Tokyo, Guerrero said that it was Kodansha, one of the producers of "Attack on Titan" and publisher of the manga, who shared the new expected release date. According to Guerrero, the information was revealed after his company had contacted Kodansha regarding the rights to air the second season of "Attack on Titan."
None of the people and studios behind "Attack on Titan" have made official statements about this latest delay. The second season of the anime series is currently in production.
Since the initial announcement regarding "Attack on Titan" season 2, details about the anime series have been scarce.
"Attack on Titan" is produced by Wit Studio and Production I.G.
