Much-awaited anime series "Attack on Titan" season 2 hit yet another brick wall, and to the fans' dismay, the release date will be pushed back to January 2017.

Initially announced to have a 2016 premiere, the series has now been confirmed to be back to the small screen early next year. Rumors have been circulating online, and most of the details were not from a reliable source. However, a recent update came from Mision Tokyo, which was also the first website to announce the series' season 1 release date back four years ago.

As noted by the show's Wikia page, the new updates were from Selecta Visión, a broadcasting company which distributes the Anime in Spain. The company was initially asking to gain rights from Japanese manga publisher Kodansha when they found out that it will premiere later than expected. The company was told by the Japanese publisher that the anime will not be airing this 2016, and it has been rescheduled sometime around next year.

Earlier this month, an event called "34 Salón del Cómic" was held in Barcelona wherein the product manager of Selecta Visión Manu Guerrero gave a statement about the recent news, saying:

[Translated from Spanish] "Although everything suggested that it would be one of the strongest releases for the end of the year, [and] in fact it was expected its release for October, it seems that it will finally be delayed and we will have to wait a little longer to see new episodes."

For the uninitiated, "Attack on Titan" is a TV adaptation of Hajime Isayama's popular manga series of the same name. The plot is set in a world where humans reside in  cities build with giant walls around it in order to keep the Titans out, which are creatures known  to at humans for reasons yet to be known. Rumor has it that the Titans' backstory will be tackled next season.
