Assassin's Creed' free play: Ubisoft offers title for December; VR experience starts today!

Ubisoft has been giving out monthly free titles as a way to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary, which it refers to as "Ubi30." This December, gamers were surprised with the announcement that "Assassin's Creed" is the last free game that Ubisoft is giving to them.
This comes as a surprise since "Assassin's Creed" is one of the game developer's biggest titles. In the last few months, Ubisoft has offered several hit titles for free such as "Beyond Good and Evil," "Splinter" and "Far Cry," among others. The coming of "Assassin's Creed" may be the cherry on top of the cake as it is the "biggest franchise ever," as Ubisoft puts it.
"Revealed at E3 2006, 'Assassin's Creed' puts the audience in the middle of an ancient war between two age-old factions: the Assassins, who fight to protect freedom and the Templars, who aspire to impose a New World Order," Ubisoft wrote on its website.
"From Italian Renaissance to the Russian Revolution, the player meets real historical heroes, takes part in events and shapes its own destiny. From one episode to the other, the creative teams have constantly added new layers of interaction and new gameplay making each world deeper and more fascinating," the game developer added.
"Assassin's Creed" has gathered positive reviews from gamers and so while it comes for free, the title should be immediately grabbed. The success of the title even paved the way for a virtual reality (VR) experience to happen, which will be held from Dec. 2 to Jan.1 in several theaters, including those in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and Austin.
- Century City 15 – Los Angeles, CA
- Orange 30 – Orange, CA
- Lincoln Square 13 – NYC
- 34th Street 14 – NYC
- Barton Creek 14 – Austin, TX
- Metreon 16 – San Francisco, CA
The VR experience will start at around 2:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. every day and will end at 9:00 p.m. or 10:00 p.m. The movie is set to premiere on Dec. 21 in more cinemas.
