'Arrow' season 5 spoilers news: Stephen Arnell speaks on the show receiving negative feedbacks, hints new villain does not have superpowers

"Arrow" season 4 ended with two members quitting the team, leaving Oliver and Felicity to finish the job of keeping peace in Star City. The billionaire playboy may have been victorious after defeating Damien Darhk in the finale, but a lot of the show's ardent fans are not happy with the last episode.
In an interview, lead star Stephen Arnell responded to the backlash they have received after the finale disappointed some viewers. The actor explained that he recognizes everyone's rights to have an opinion, but he stressed that a majority of the fans still love watching the show. Arnell also gave his take on pro- and anti-"Olicity" fans, saying, "For some reason, different people who are fans of the show have seemed to split up into different fractions. But again, I really do think that it's a few people with very loud voices. And I feel like if you are going on the attack for fictional characters, that you're probably not real fans of the show."
Looking forward to season 5, Arnell teased that a new bad guy will enter the picture once the show returns later this year. "I've heard that our big bad, our villain, is something that you can really only do once you're in the fifth, sixth or seventh season of a TV show," the actor told Variety. When pressed for further details, he said: "As far as I know, they don't have superpowers. I'll tell you that." This might mean that more hand-to-hand combat will be seen in future fight scenes.
In terms of how the storyline will go, the show will mainly focus on the flashbacks. Oliver will trace his backstory in Russia, particularly his Bratva origin. While fans still try to move on after Black Canary's death, a familiar face will return to the show — Roy. Portrayed by Colton Haynes, Roy will be back in the team for vengeance.
"Arrow" season 5 premieres this coming October on The CW. As of this writing, the network has yet to announce an exact release date.
