The first trailer for "Arrow" season 5 has been released, and the action-packed footage shows Katie Cassidy's return as Laurel along with the introduction of a new big bad. Oliver's Bratva initiation was featured in some of the scenes as well.

Season 4 left off with a major cliffhanger when Laurel asked Oliver to promise something to her. Executive producers Marc Guggenheim and Wendy Mericle debuted the new teaser featuring Laurel's last words to Oliver (Stephen Arnell). "Your instinct has always been to go alone," she told Oliver as she lay in a hospital bed. "Ollie, you can't."

During a Sunday Nerd HQ panel, Arnell spoke about Oliver's promise and how important it is to the storyline. "It's something that's going to have a lasting impact not just in our season premiere, but over the next couple seasons of the show," he said (via TV Line). "It's going to be critical to whatever the legacy of our show is."

Based on Laurel's statement, their conversation will clearly push Oliver to recruit new members of Team Arrow. Now that Laurel, Thea (Willa Holland) and Diggle (David Ramsey) are no longer around, it is up to Oliver and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) to train amateur vigilantes to help them in their fight against evil.

The last moments of the trailer also featured a mysterious hooded figure and according to Guggenheim, he is the coming season's new villain. "... he's a new character. He's our big bad for the year," the EP confirmed during a Comic-Con panel. "We call him Prometheus. It's not the Grant Morrison, Howard Porter Prometheus from the Justice League. He's a new character that fits in with the theme of legacy for this season. He's pretty badass and mean." It was previously revealed that Prometheus has no superpowers but he has connections to the first season's storyline.

Tune in to "Arrow" season 5 which premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
