'Arrow' season 5 news, updates: Stephen Arnell physically attacked by fan; series to end after 5 seasons?

Stephen Arnell may be a masked vigilante fighting against bad guys in "Arrow," but it doesn't mean he constantly wants to fight in real life.
In an Instagram post, Arnell shared a shocking story about a fan encounter he had recently. According to the actor, the fan head-butted him out of nowhere because he "want[ed] to fight the Green Arrow." Instead of getting even and hitting the guy back, Arnell decided to take the high road and shook the fan's hand as he politely declined the weird offer. The actor explained he did it "because [he's] a father and a husband," further adding, "pretty manly if you ask me." Even though Arnell seems to be fine after the violent encounter, it appears that he has a small bruise and scratch on his nose.
After featuring a soapy romance and fantastical premises, "Arrow" has certainly gone full-circle now that's back to the gritty crime genre storytelling fans have always loved. With the conclusion of the flashback storyline and season 5's "legacy" theme, some fans speculate that the hit superhero drama is nearing its end. However, executive producer Marc Guggenheim assured viewers that "Arrow" is still far from concluding.
"I think we tend to look at season 5 as the end of a particular chapter," he told Entertainment Weekly. Arnell, on the other hand, believes the program has already reached a crossroads. "I do really believe that this season is sort of a throw-down-the-gauntlet year for us, where we're either going to do what we do and do it well or it's the last year," he explained. "If we find that magic formula—which is not magic, it's just hard work and playing to your strengths—then the show could go on for a really long time."
Keep tuning in to "Arrow" season 5 every Wednesday night at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
