The CW's top-rating series "Arrow" airs its season-ender next week, but it's never too early to talk about the show's upcoming fifth season.

Clues about the forthcoming season's storyline have recently surfaced, and it will feature main protagonist Oliver as he embarks on a new adventure. According to reports, a violent shipwreck happens, leading people close to billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) to think that he was dead. After five years, they will discover that he has been alive all along after he was found on a remote island located in the North China Sea. Oliver comes back to Star City, with the goal of "fighting injustice" and making up for all the wrongs his family did before. He will protect his city as Green Arrow, along with "former soldier John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), his vigilante-trained sister Thea Queen (Willa Holland), former police captain Quentin Lance (Paul Blackthorne), and brilliant inventor Curtis Holt (Echo Kellum)." However, enemies from Oliver's past will come back to haunt him and his team.

During a press conference yesterday, The CW head Mark Pedowitz confirmed that "Arrow" will be a part of an epic crossover episode along with three other hero series in the network — "The Flash," "legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl." "Just imagine what our superhero crossover episode is going to look like come December," Pedowitz said. He also described the upcoming crossover as "the biggest one ever."

On another note, a new villain might be joining the series as the show is currently looking for an actor to play the role of James, an "irrepressibly charming" counterpart of Oliver. The character is described as someone who can "easily shake your hand as your best friend or break your neck as your worst enemy — and you never know which one is coming. Either way, he's more than capable of having a good time as he does it."

As of this writing, the network has yet to announce an official premiere date for "Arrow" season 5. Based on previous seasons, the show will likely return to the small screen sometime around early October of this year.
