Ark. Church Responds to Atheist Billboard With 'Message of Love'

A church in Arkansas has reportedly raised enough money to counter an atheist billboard with a message of their own this holiday season.
Grace Church in the city of Alma has successfully raised the $900 needed to erect a pro-Christianity billboard near a billboard put up by the American Atheists that has drawn the ire of local believers.
The American Atheist billboard, which has been putting up in Illinois, Arkansas, and several southern states, shows an image of a child with the text: "Dear Santa, All I want for Christmas is to skip church! I'm too old for fairy tales."
Devon Walker, the pastor at Grace Church in Alma, tells the local KFSM-TV station that his church has successfully raised enough money to put their own billboard on the same advertisement space as the American Atheist billboard. Grace Church's message, which run for two weeks beginning Wednesday, reads: "Questions, Doubts, Curiosity? All welcome at Grace."
"The ad will start on Wednesday and it will run for two weeks," Pastor Walker told KFSM-TV. "It's been exciting we were able to raise all the funds for it and the whole idea was if we can't raise the funds we are not going to do it."
The church also wrote in a message on its website that it is not trying to start a battle over Christmas with its billboard, but rather to "respond with love" to the American Atheists' message.
"Our goal is not to oppose their message, but rather to respond with love and support," Grace Church says on its website. "We actually welcome their desire to support those who have felt alienated by believers and start discussion between and among the atheist and Christian communities."
