Argentinian Actor Cast As Jesus In Upcoming 'Bible' Sequel

An actor has been cast to play the role of Jesus in the upcoming NBC sequel to "The Bible" miniseries, slated to be released around Easter 2015.
35-year-old Argentinian actor Juan Pablo Di Pace announced via Twitter this week that he is honored to be playing the role of Jesus in the upcoming sequel to the highly successful "The Bible" miniseries. The sequel will be entitled "A.D." and will pick up where "The Bible" left off, detailing the time after Jesus' crucifixion and his resurrection into heaven.
The Argentinian native, who has starred in such shows as "Camp" and "Dallas," tweeted his excitement for the role this week, writing: "Excited to be plying Jesus in @ADTheSeries coming Easter Sunday to @nbc. #ADTheSeries."
"Humbled and happy to be playing HIM," he added in another tweet.
Executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett previously cast a Portuguese actor, Diago Morgado, to play the role of Jesus in the History Channel miniseries "The Bible" last year. That miniseries was also released around Easter time.
Deadline reports that other major characters in the upcoming miniseries sequel will be played by actors Richard Coyle, Vincent Regan, Adam Levy, Emmet Scanlan and Chipo Chung, among others.
The 12-episode miniseries will premiere on April 4, Easter Sunday of 2015.
Downey has expressed her excitement for a follow-up of their highly successful "The Bible" miniseries, saying in a recent interview: "Christianity is among the most diverse movements in history, so when Mark and I looked to bring this epic story of A.D. to life on NBC, it was important to us to find a cast as diverse and beautiful as the church is around the world."
