'Aquaman' release date update: Film premiere pushed back to Oct. 5, 2018
Looks like DC Extended Universe (DCEU) fans will have to wait a little longer before they can see Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa) star in his own solo film.

The Hollywood Reporter has reported that Warner Bros. has pushed back the release date for "Aquaman" to Oct. 5, 2018 from its original release date of July 2018. Screen Rant's Cooper Hood has noted that this wasn't necessarily a bad thing because it would give the cast and crew more time to work on the film. As of the moment, Disney and Marvel do not have any movies scheduled that month. If it stays that way, "Aquaman" won't have to compete with another superhero film.
Meanwhile, in an interview posted by @LegoIasWayne on Twitter (via Comicbook.com), Momoa took the time to talk about why he identifies with the character he's going to be playing.
"How I identify with that is kind of being ... a bit of an outcast. You see, he wasn't really too accepted ... I wasn't too accepted. There weren't any races where I grew up. There's no Chinese, no Mexican, no Black. I grew up in Iowa. I graduated with like 100 people. I was born in Hawaii, so I would go see my father ... [I] just wasn't accepted on the local side by some people because I wasn't raised in Hawaii. I identify as being that outcast and not really fitting into two different worlds."
Momoa's life story does sound like Curry's. The son of a lighthouse keeper and an exiled Queen of Atlantis, Curry was also an outcast who was caught between two worlds. He is half-human and half-Atlantean, but he feels that he doesn't truly fit in either society. It appears Momoa may be the perfect actor to play Aquaman.
Besides Momoa, the film will also star Amber Heard as Mera and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko. "Furious 7" director James Wan is helming "Aquaman."
