Apple MacBook Pro 2016 release date, specs, update: Three models available; 16 GB of RAM limit explained

After what seemed like a long wait, Apple has finally unveiled its MacBook Pro 2016 laptop. Fans have been anticipating this gadget for some time and as expected, opinions regarding it varied. Some were impressed while others didn't think it was worth the wait.
Nonetheless, those who fell in love with the latest Apple notebook can choose from the three variants released. There's the 13-inch variant, 13-inch with Touch Bar and 15-inch model. Each one somehow differs in specs and features.
For the standard and the cheapest of the three models, it comes with a display resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels with 227 ppi. Under the hood is an Intel Core i5 with dual-core clocked at 2.0 GHz. It has 8 GB of RAM and has a native storage of 256 GB. For its graphics, it has the Intel Graphics 540. It supports Force Touch and gesture support and its battery is a 54.5-watt-hour lithium-polymer.
On the other hand, 13-inch with Touch Bar model is the same but with slight differences including the highly talked about Touch Bar. Apparently, one must pay $300 more in order to get this new feature. The standard device costs $1,499 while the 13-inch with Touch Bar is $1,799 for the 256 GB version. It goes all the way up to $1,999 for the 512 GB version.
Other differences between the two include the battery, which is 49.2-watt-hour lithium-polymer, the Intel Iris Graphics 550 and the processor, which is Intel Core i5 clocked at 2.9 GHz.
The last variant is the 15-inch model, which is clearly the most expensive. Priced at $2,399 for the 256 GB version and $2,799 for the 512 GB version, the 15-inch MacBook Pro 2016 comes with a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels and 220 ppi.
Its RAM count is 16 GB and this is already the maximum. Several customers questioned this because they are apparently not happy with just having 16 GB of RAM.
But according to MacRumors, marketing chief Phil Schiller explained the reason behind this. He said that going beyond 16 GB of RAM will take up too much power and this will negatively impact the laptop's battery life.
Shipping for the MacBook Pro 2016 laptop will kick off few weeks from now so interested customers should stay tuned for more updates.
