Fortune and other media sources have since then reported that GT Advanced, the rumored sole manufacturer of Sapphire glass has filed for bankruptcy. Sapphire glass features on two of the three Apple watches being released. However, it will not be part of the base model which Fortune predicts will be the best seller among the three models.

GT Advanced filing for bankruptcy will definitely not bring any cheer to those awaiting the release of the Apple Watch, as any delay might cause the release date to be pushed to either April or May of 2015.

There's also news on the fashion front, after Apple chose to exhibit the Apple Watch in the French boutique Collete during Paris Fashion Week. This means much is being written about it becoming a fashion accessory. Forbes concentrates on this angle as it examines whether technology needs to be fashionable. It points out that the Apple Watch is going to have stiff competition from Swatch and Fossil who are creating their own smartwatches.

Fortune has also been focusing on the Apple iWatch, by examining the mystery behind it. They quote Ben Thompson an analyst who feels "the central conundrum is why Apple is bothering to release this device without a built-in cellular radio."

His observation is based on the fact that the Apple Watch has to be paired with an iPhone if the wearer wants to make a call. This leads Thompson to believe that "future versions of the Apple Watch will be both tiny computers and fully functioning mobile phones."
