It's time for the 24-carat rose gold Apple Watch to step aside because a new diamond-studded version of the watch is coming to town courtesy of diamond specialist Mervis. The eagerly awaited Apple Watch is scheduled for release early in 2015, and more extravagant and expensive versions are already being prepared for launch.

The Apple Watch was positioned as a luxury brand earlier this year when it went on display in the French boutique Colette which is known for its high-end brands. That Apple Watch debut during the Paris Fashion Week seemed to have caught the fancy of prestigious diamond importer Mervis, prompting the latter to announce recently that it is going to make a diamond version of the watch.

In the diamond-encrusted timepiece that Mervis is about to create, the strap of the watch will be replaced by an 18-carat frame made of solid rose gold. The frame is paired with the rose gold body of the Apple Watch which is rumored to cost around $5,000. The frame is studded with 15-carat diamonds arranged in eight rows, giving the watch a glittering splendor that those who crave for luxury products will find hard to resist.

The diamond Apple Watch from Mervis is being offered at a price of $30,150. This price tag, considered quite steep by many, is actually described as "modest" by reviewers.

Mervis is famous for creating exorbitantly priced products for the super rich. Among these is a racing bike that is fully coated in gold and priced at $400,000. The company also famously offered an iPhone 6 with a pink diamond inlaid for a cool $48.5 million.

With the Apple Watch still to be released next year, Mervis has gone ahead with its plans to make a high-end fashion accessory with the diamond version of the watch. Even though the Apple Watch has been hit by production delays and could be released later than expected, Mervis seems sure that the Apple Watch will be an instant hit as what many industry sources have predicted.
